In your entrepreneur life, you’re taught to fake it til you make it. Although true, that you must have a clear vision, or image, of whom you want to be, there is also the danger to think more highly of yourself than your ideas or reality dictates.
A consistent reality check is a must, to know your progress—not to pull you back but as a way to propel you forward. This helps you stay grounded with the task at hand while giving hope for the future. Furthermore, it’s more genuine both to yourself and others.
It’s easy to forget the pain you have suffered, or the sacrifices you’ve made; and for some that may be desirable. However, these memories are the things that keep you human, especially in your success.
The human experience is one wrought with mystery and triumph. Success is the imagination on display, which for all purposes contribute to the living soul.
Along with your grand vision of how things will be, it must also be balanced with humility and meekness. Without them, you risk becoming a pre-madonna—not as the 80s pop singer, but properly as a prima donna, a vain and temperamental person or drama queen. Who would want to live with that?
